Thanks Rickster!

.... based on the evaluation of the prototype at NEAF by a close relative thats owned over 500 EPs in 50 years. He told me it was the best wide field eyepiece he's ever seen, and he's not a Nagler fan either.

Keith

I was sure impressed! So was the Meade rep. Late on Sunday I walked up to the Televue display and the senior Meade rep was saying "We have some great wide-field eyepieces, but nothing like this! If it goes for under a grand I'll buy one for myself!" The Televue rep said that it would be a lot less than a grand. When I asked about Bino-viewer use she said that that would requre a minimum of 45mm inter-occular distance. From what I saw this thing is super.

If anyone whats to see more pictures of Norman's scopes check the pictures of the winners from past years on the Stellafane website. There's also plenty of pictures in the general photos from past years' conventions. I've looked thru his scopes and it's not just the wood work that's good. His optics are fine also.

I think this must be a typo - from the looks of the eyepiece, it's going to take a lot more than 45mm...

Did you see them at NEAF? He had a miniature 20" Dob Model (maybe a 1.3" primary) with a tiny secondary, focuser and EP. And it worked!!

He showed me some magnified rafters across the gym. The eyelens must have been 1mm across. Simply astounding!

Can't read the email address but hopefully someone will chime in with it. (Used to be bcrist@eoix.net)
I've seen them for sale at several Astro-Shops through the years but I suspect if you want something specific you'll need to contact him direct.
I bought one at http://www.cameraconcepts.com/ a while back.

My first post, and I want to say a quick "Hello!" to the CN people that I met at NEAF this year. What a great bunch! Especially Erika, even though she was a little unbalanced on Sunday, and nearly stripped a gear!

I'm glad to see you posting here, Geoff! Thanks again to all of you for giving me a helping hand.

Hi Erika, my pleasure on both counts!

I've posted a pic of you and your friends from the midwest to the picture gallery.

Enjoy!

I actually did buy a few things from NEAF.
Telrad
Red dot finder
2 3D apollo puzzles for my son (a CM and a LEM)
a set of 4 solar power red walkway lights
and ACP Observatory Control Software (Internet and local version). I purchased ACP today using a NEAF discount code. Now I just need to update my copy of MaximDL.

Sal, was it a 70mm Calcium K? If so, it was most likely Ralph. I'll down load some photos here in a bit. I'm sure I have one of that scope.

And definitively told to me(by Bill)that it is a BO, not a TMB.
