I made an observation of one of my favorite open star clusters in the heavens, namely M11 (Wild Duck Cluster) in Scutum, on June 10, 2007 (05:00 U.T.). This open cluster has always fascinated me and appears as an explosion of a million stars to my eyes. This open cluster in Scutum lies approximately 6,000 light-years from us, has approximately 3,000 stars, and is an estimated 250 million years old. I made an rendering of what I observed but it does not do this cluster justice. I hope that you all like it.

I made a graphite observation (2H) then scanned and reversed the it in Photoshop.

Carlos,
This has got to be the finest open cluster for telescopes in the 3-14 inch range from the northern hemisphere. Your very accurate drawing is magnificent.

Carlos, that is an incredible sketch! What painstaking work to capture so many stars so accurately This is one of my favourite star clusters too - I'll never forget my first ever view of it through my homemade 6-inch reflector under dark skies - a long time ago now!

Hi Carlos! M 11 is one of my favorite Open Clusters and I am definitely gonna draw it this summer - still, I wonder, how I'll do it. The number of stars is massive. You've demonstrated that it can be done successfully! Thanks!

Thank you all for the compliments on my Wild Duck Cluster (M11) observation. M11 is one of my very favorite clusters to observe. The compactness and richness of this open cluster is phenomenal. I tackled this object in sections and it made it easier to render. I hope that you all are able to enjoy it as well.

Indeed fabulous, Carlos.
The very fascinating part of this hobby is that every observer makes his own impression with emphasis to particular details.
