Bear Cub terrorizes neighborhood
      #1664756 - 06/15/07 04:12 PM

Or so the police thought. That is what a neighbor reported. That a black bear was meandering thru the streets, raiding garbage. Turns out it was an extremely large Newfoundland, well over 200 pounds, that took it upon himself to take a leisurely stroll. His owners as it turned out live less than a mile from us. His name is Zar. You guys just would not believe the size of this dog. Turned out to be quite a big teddy bear though!

My Brother had a "Newfy", and they are sweet dogs.

The retrievers (Lab, Chesapeake, and curly-coated) are descended from the Newfy. I've never owned one, but had friends who did - they're just delightful, people-loving dogs. And warm in the winter...

I just can"t get over the shear size of this big teddy bear. It definitely makes tales like "Cujo" more believable to me.
