Nice looking scope Geoff ... you know of course, the new equipment/foul weather curse usually lasts 30 to 40 days.
Rickster, I remember when you posted this. I laughed and said to my self, it won't happen... HOW wrong was I.... It's been 14 days now and still no let up...... ..

Hey all!
Here my transformed NexStar 8SE. Now on CG-5 with Vibration Pads, Dew shield, Polar scope, Moonlite Focuser (I LOVE IT) with DC Motor connected to FCUSB, Celestron focal reducer and Celestron Radial Guider (Hyperion eyepiece now in it), Nikon D80 at the end connected to serial port for triggering.
Waiting on QHY5 and QHY8.
People astrophotography is a /dev/null sink for money. For any descent results there are no shortcuts by equipment.
All this new equipment and not a SINGLE clear night for 2 weeks. New equipment curse....

Here's one from yesterday ... note the "finder" over kill.
The Telrad is not usually used unless I'm going to do some star hopping/surfing the sky. There are some very nice sky charts devoted to the Telrad that are fun and easy to use. The GLP and RACI (F60M) get the most use.

What tripod are you using. I was looking at something with a little beef to it. BC

It's the heavy duty Celestron (#93593) that the company offered for the 5i and 8i mounts and came with a fitted mounting plate designed to accept 5i and 8i models exclusively. IIRC, they don't offer this unit anymore, though you can probably find one used. Coupled with the Star-Tek Eyepiece/accessory tray (also no longer available) it provides a far more stable platform for the 8i than the original tripod.
