Hello everyone, I just wanted to post up since I've been lurking for alittle while now. I've been using a pair of Nikon 10x50 Action bino's for a few weeks & finally decided on a scope thanks to alot of what I've read on this site. So I pulled the trigger & have a Celestron Omni XLT 120 coming tomorrow. I also order the 9 pc eyepiece/filter set & the RA DEC motors
It figures that this week will be tough seeing as the moon has been casting big shadows, but I'm going to give it a try & see what I can find.
This is the 1st telescope I've ever owned but have always been interested in astronomy. I actually just bought the binos a few weeks back after reading advise here as well.
Once I get the 120 up & running I'll post back with some feedback (Novice, 1st timer feedback)

CDyer77,
Welcome to CN!

Joe is totally right! I have really enjoyed my travels among the lunar landscape the past few weeks. As the terminus moves each day, there are always different features to observe.
Depending where you are at, you may be able to catch Jupiter in the southern sky. Your scope should resolve several cloud bands, GRS, and the four moons. Venus and Mars are in nice viewing position in the mornings, and Saturn is coming.
There are many DSO to enjoy with your scope.
We shall look forward to first light!

Great start in the hobby, you need to give us a first light report?
I would like to see what you think, as I have recently read a report on this scope in "Sky At Night" magazine.

Welcome to Cloudy Nights, Chris!
Hoping for clear skies so you won't have to test your patience for too long a period of time before First Light
