I have noticed lately that there have been very few fellow sketchers entering the monthly contests. There is a lot of talent out there, and everyone, regardless of your experience is welcomed to submit thier entries. What's the worse that can happen...you won't win?
So what, it is fun to enter and it does give the sketchers some much needed representation in these contests. So come on, new, intermediate or advanced...it doesn't matter...give it a try and submit a sketch and see how it stacks up, you may just be surprised!

I got to come up to speed with the transfer of my sketches and our workhorse scanner. Most of mine are in a spiral bound sketch pad that will produce those hanging chad thingies...perhaps I should switch to another type of sketch pad.
Clear skies, maybe...Stacy

Submissions for the November Sketching contest is now open. With the many sketchers here and all the great sketches that are posted throughout the month, it would be great to see more than a couple fellow sketchers enter thier drawings.

I meant to enter the October contest, and I actually did two M31 sketches in October. But I was busy, and didn't scan/process the images until now.
I guess that's my fault, but I suppose I can still post anyway.

Oh, absolutely, Mike.
The sketching contest and the monthly target are actually two separate things. The contest can be any object you wish as long as it is viewable during that month. The winner of that contest goes to the overall contest to represent the sketching forum.
The monthly target is a specific object that we target to help each other learn the different ways to sketch it.

Erika,
Thanks for clueing me in - I didn't realize the monthly target was a different thing than the contest.
But I posted my M31 sketch in the October monthly target thread after all. It was fun participating!

Mike, as Erika stated: "The monthly target is a specific object that we target to help each other learn the different ways to sketch it."
The monthly target is one in which one can share with others thier sketch of a selected object for the month. Hopefully those that submit a sketch of the Monthly Target will also offer suggestions/tips as to how they created thier sketch, regardless of the medium or tools used to do so.
I also offers to others a more realistic idea of how a particular object might appear in the EP dependant on the scope or instrument used.
Regardless if one wishes to just post thier sketch/drawing/rendition, or if they include a few tips or a tutorial, it is all about the fun of sharing with others ones own observation(s).
Thanks for sharing your with all of us here, and hopefully it will be one of many.

Good for you Kevin!
Don't raise the white flag so quickly, you may be surprised as to what the outcome may be. Besides, I have yet to make it to the finals myself so I am laying claim to the white flag!

Ok everyone, KevinP jumped on board and entered his sketch as well. How about a few others?
Let's get a good selection of entrants and entries. If you can post them in the main forum, why not enter one and post in the monthly contest as well?

Hot diggity, another sketcher (Kris Smet) has entered this months contest!
Everyone who entered sketches are to be congratulated for your participation in the monthly contest. Your efforts are not only appreciated, more importantly every entrant helps to represent the Sketching Forum and your fellow sketchers.

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO ENTERED!!!
...there is still time for others to enter before the contest closes.
