Last one I checked showed showers Fri, Sat, Sun and mostly cloudy until next Wed. That of course could and most likely will change between now and the weekend. Basically we probably really won't know until Fri. night/Sat. morning.

I was on Mt Hood last weekend and it was supposed to rain. Well it did not. NW weather this time a year can change on a dime. I bet we know saturday morning. I guess the forecast for the Mt Bachelor star party outside of bend is looking good.

Weather! Drives ya nuts!

I had to delay my flight back to Portland to arrive at 6 pm Sat night now...and that will be after a long, busy day. I'm 50/50 right now and the forecast isn't making it any easier!

Jim, glad to hear the CG-5 is working out ok.

The forecast has improved over the last 24 hours. From rainy to only cloudy. As long as we got some holes to shoot thru I'm still in.

Remember, you guys are going to be on the east side of Mt Hood. The weather is usually totally different from Portland--especially during the summer. I read chance of rain on Saturday night---about 30%. However, we've been cutting hay here and I've been watching the weather pretty closely for the last week for both that, Mt Bachelor, and WRC. The forecast has changed at least every day and sometimes a couple of times every day. For all of us, I pray we have clear skies---especially for me with 35-40 ton of hay on the ground, drying, I hope.

I'm still in. 'Planning to bring Buttermilk and at least one newt. Also planning to bring ham sandwitches, cookies, some coffee and a small table we can sit at when we need to take a load off. (This is supposed to be a kind of party after all isn't it? )

If it is just truly dismal, do we want to start thinking about an alternative date?

'Hope your hay dries Larry!

I need to start thinking of an alternate date...I'm just gonna call it now and say I won't make it.

I sure hope the weather cooperates (it should now since I'm not coming) and we can have another meeting also...

If truly dismal, yeah I guess we'd better. Just seems like a conspiracy to keep us NWers apart.

Accuweather has improved to 'partly cloudy', no mention of rain on Saturday night. We just gotta watch this. Might still be OK. I'm still making plans to attend.

Hi, folks,

Fri. morn. forecast for Portland indicates "partly cloudy" for Saturday nite. Can you P/landers guesstimate how that translates to the east-side viewing site? I see too that wind is predicted to be from the N or NW -- in Puget Sound country that would tend to indicate clear skies; but then switch to S/SE after midnite. What does would that generally indicate at the site?

Being that White River is on the east side Partly cloudy most likely allow for viewing. The clouds start to break up as they hit the Mountain. I was up there last weekend and the Partly cloudy forecast ended up being Clear skies.

Thanks, John. Looks like I'll chance it!

Just got back from a drive to the midwest. I'm *extremely* happy to report that my astronomy gear fits in my new, very little car. Probably a difference of about $150 in gas for the trip over the SUV.

Lastest reports are still 'partly cloudy'. Good enough for me! I look forward to seeing you all at the first NW CNers Star Party.
