Well, my STF mak got first light today, and unfortunately even with a 1.25" diagonal, my big easy is still a couple of MM away from comming to focus. Any body have any suggestions on the shortest way to couple a 1.25" diagonal to an SCT?
How about a 2"
Thanks for any advice.

To clarify, I am presently using a clestron 1.25' visual back to a WO 1.25" diagonal.

I suspect you'll never be able to get the light path short enough with 2" components, and personally I don't like using the binoviewer with 1.25" components....it always seems to twist around and even fell out once or twice.
Maybe a focal reducer lens like a Richfield StarSweeper?

Using a focal reducer will require more in-focus travel.
Doesn't that visual back have male threads on the end of it that aren't needed? You could cut that part off and gain some travel. If that doesn't work, take a look at what I did to my setup.

Thanks guys both posts are right on.
The 1.25 Visual back has some threads on it that are un-needed, and I have a Dremel, so off they will come. I am also buying a moded 1.25" diagonal from Siebert that will screw into the big easy. So that should more than get me there.
I also have a strong preference for a 2" set-up for binoviewing, for the same reasons stated......
I have a 2" BV on order from Siebert, and was hoping to be able to use it OCA less, but that doesnt seem likely with the amount of infocus I have.
Thanks for the input.

Look at this picture, it involves some elements that could be a solution for your needs :
the diagonal is a T2 Baader 90° prism (body only), the telescope side is T2 female and the eyepiece side is T2 male, it is possible to couple it to the telescope using the 15mm short "S/C(female)-T2(male)" adapter that you can see above the f/6,3 focal reducer. On top of this adapter, holding the bino in the picture, is the T2 click-lock eyepiece holder , it is possible to remove it and to couple the bino directly to the diagonal body, but it is very easy to do it using a Baader T2 binoviewer, in your case you have the Denk and I do not know what kind of adapter is required. If you know it, you can look for a specific adapter in the T2 Baader system, it is a wide collection of this kind of elements.
The shortest diagonal made by Baader is the 32mm T2 prism, something like 38mm long light-path, it is not so espensive...
Look on www.alpineastro, the items you have to look for 3 items : the first is the adapter "T2-21", the second is the 90° prism "T2-01C" (you can complete the body-only with a nose and a rear of your choice to have a normal diagonal), than look for the third, to couple the bino with the T2 Diagonal top (T2 male).
Anyway, there is an important aspect using T2 system... things cannot hit the ground !!!
Clear skies !

Mark, you might have to use an OCS depending on specific EPs even if you can get a short configuration...
In regard to 2" format, you could always go with a setup similar to a Denkmeier PxS Diagonal with a Short SCT adapter. It would give you a very short 2" configuration with 2" diagonal and 3 magnifications for your BV without changing EPs.
I happen to know someone selling one for a very good price in the S&S forum. (wink, wink) It is in excellent (LNIB) condition. Only reason selling is 'cause I have two and I'm back down to one SCT.
Just a thought,
