Hi Tom,
What is DSS software and how did you blend the images? I attempted to blend my image in Photoshop CS3 and would be interested in knowing how you went about bringing out the halo yet preserving the core.
Thanks,
Patrick

DSS is Deep Sky Stacker. It is the most awesome thing since sliced bread!
I've tried every stacker I've been able to find, stumbling upon DSS was world-changing. It actually handles Camera Raw in a total "no muss" fashion. It supports multi-processor/multi-core. The UI is totally intuitive.
It's completely batch-able in every way.
Automatic field derotation that works. An amazing algorithm to separate comets from star field, stack each, and recombine so that both the comet is perfectly sharp, and the starfield is perfectly sharp, simultaneously.
Automatic "best image" selection. It's so good, I've never had bad registration in full-auto, probably due to the subpixel registration. Superpixel enlargements too.
I've dumped every other stacker for this one. Oh - and it's free! (if you can't tell - I love this app )
