I'm sure that I've posted these two in the past. But, wanted to show some of the newer DSLR Imagers a couple of small, but bright targets to try. These are both available now and in good positons. I took both with the LX-90 @f6.3 and the Canon XT - ISO 800.
Go get them.

Nice! I've done these with my CCD, but not with my Canon. I'll have to give it a try!

Awesome pic of the Snowball and Saturn Nebulae! I actually saw the Snowball through my Orion XT8 Intelliscope at Cherry Springs, PA the other day. However, I can't ever seem to pinpoint the Saturn Nebula. I've tried several times with no luck. Can someone give me tips on what to look for (color, surrounding stars) and a recommendation for the best magnification?

Great detail on both images Doug. I really like the Saturn Nebula. I'll give them both a go sometime this summer.

Toughies for a DSLR... and they need good seeing too. You did well. My saturn nebula shots stunk when I tried last year.
