Well,we're getting closer to the finish line !! Here's a few new pics with a litlle more finish work to be done. The roof works slick. As you can see this can be a slightly higher cost design in that I had to use a PT-2 to get the scope low enough to roll the roof/dome off. I still have 3" clearance so a 14" would be possible !Thanks for the kind words and encouragement. Wayne

The peg board serves more than hanging stuff. It also acts as a natural flow of heat away from the wall cavities. I appreciate your compliments and hope to finish it up in the next week or two.

Wayne,
That looks fantastic. I appears the roll of option is working great. Congrats and thanks for posting the pics.

Wow Wayne ... Lookin' Great!

What is the does the dome slide on? Do you have a track on the building to make it easy to slide off? It's tough to see in the pics posted so far.

Good Luck
Ken

I've had a couple of people ask me "why the roll off dome" ? Have you dome users ever stood in your dome and wished you could see the entire sky ?? I have had two prior domes and hated only being able to view the beautiful sky and universe that God has provided thru a 30 " wide slot ! Maybe I'm nuts but I just love the dome when its windy and heavy dew,but when its dry and calm its nice to be able to view the entire sky. Bottom line ,it's just what I liked and wanted .

Wayne, Beautiful Observatory! Good point on the pegboard and heat; I never thought of that when I decided to go with pegboard paneling for my lower walls.

Thanks for absolutely wonderful photos!

Thanks Carol. I hope to have all the wiring under the floor for the pier and scope, etc. by the weekend and then it will be about ready. I've still got to install the a/c but that can wait a few months if need be. Thanks for looking ! Wayne

My dome is 80% finished, but no walls yet............. do you think I'm thinking ???? You are so right ! What a great idea, why didn't I think of that ? Well, I still have time to decide, except the only rolloff space is I have is either directly North or South. Smack in the way of my best views. Don't think I can do it..... pitty ! Well done Wayne.

Manie, Mine rolls off to the East and it really doesn't block that much. I can get a degree reading to let you know what the scopes line of sight is when the pier is at its highest point. If you want it ,let me know. If you have the room and don't mind the tracks being off the ground at wall height ,like a normal rolloff, it would be much simpler to build. You wouldn't ave the alignment of the V ground tracks to worry with.I have attached a pic of the ground tracks. Wayne
