PST Mount?
      #2002269 - 11/22/07 10:30 AM Attachment (71 downloads)

Just wondering what people out there are using to mount their PST. I use a UA Microstar on a Bogen 3001 tripod. It works quite well and is lightweight.

I use the little screw on clippy thing that came with my tripod...But then I use the 2nd cheapest tripod I could find...

My twenty year old Velbon tripod with a slow motion adapter, works great, wouldn't mind a small equatorial though.

I used to use an inexpensive Meade Alt/Az mount. The camera tripods as well as video camera tripods were just too shaky for me.

I have mine on a Bogen 3246 with Bogen 410 slo-mo, kind of pricey, but I use if for my WO66 also, and when I dual mount the two for H-alpha & white light (see avatar pic).

I got a cheapie camera tripod, but it shakes and is sloppy in movement.

Looking for something smooth and steady. Maybe even motorized.

Recommendations???

Sean

I use the mount that came with my DSX-125. I added the Sun to my AutoStar so it will find & track it.

Before I had the DSX-125 mount I used a DX mount from a 60mm refractor with a spacer I made to make up the difference between the refractor & the PST.
I sort of liked the way this looked better but figured the DSX-125 plate was better for the PST.

I also got a DSX mount, but I found it vibrates... good enough for visual usage, but no hope for imaging (it could be my sample which is bad)

Doesn't look balanced to me - you should unscrew the shaft..... Or better yet, slide a few counterweights on the PST's tube - looks to be the same diameter.
