NASA images as backdrop
      #2009329 - 11/25/07 11:21 PM

I've used some NASA images as backgrounds for some of my models and thought I'd share.

The background was shot from the ISS. The model is by Revell.

The Moonscape is from Apollo 12, the CSM is from RealSpace Models.

This background is from Apollo 16. The LEM is 2 1/2 inches tall and the kit is by Heller. While the other shots were photoshopped, this one was made by photographing the model in front of a page from the book "Space Shots."

This is a shot of Jupiter taken by Cassini when it flew by. The Discovery is from Lunar Models' resin kit.

Thanks. Here's another one. The capsule is about 90% scratch-built with the outer hull provided by an Estes rocket nosecone.

Me too - the Jupiter image is a very hopeful one, that someday mankind will walk among the planets, and then the distant stars.

I try not to think that that's supposed to be 2001.

Yeah, the Jupiter shot is the best of the lot. For me, the others are spoilt by the problem of lighting, how to light the model with a flash to get the same quality of light of the original image. Don't think photoshop works here with that. Please try more like Discovery.

Thanks,

michael

Very good, your first image looks very similar to a real NASA image from one of the Gemini missions. When I can find the time I might be able to dig it up.
