I would love to buy one, but that price is a tad high...even for a Unitron.

Save your $1600 and find a scope with a bit more glass. I have seen 3" 140s go for less than this. This is in good shape it still shouldnt be starting this high. He is banking on a rich guy who just wants one for his office!!

Clint, I agree completely!

The scope is definitely in outstanding shape and the EQ mount is absolutely wonderful. But as far as performance you could probably spend $200-300 for a mint condition Tasco 7TE-5 and get just as good (possibly better) observing with a 60mm scope.

If you are a collector with too much money then this is the scope for you! After you buy this one, send me a PM. I'll sell you my vintage Edmund Voyager for only $825!

Hapsburg recently put me on to a pristine Unitron model 128.
Best classic purchase I've ever made...almost on the level with some of the Caveman's buys. The scope and mount are absolutely beautiful and the wifey even allows it to be set up and displayed in the family room. The optics are superb, the mount a dream. Finallly I came across an outstanding bargain. I'm always keeping my eyes out for others. Bonco

Just catching up on posts ... Wow, beautiful scope, I'd love to stumble across something like that ... congrats Bronco!

Not to talk $$$, but what's a good (not necessarily a barn burner) deal for something like that, it seems to have a lot of trimmings? .... minus Cavemanís balance unibalance of course

I'd like to see a picture of the unibalance Clint mentioned.
However i don't see the need for one.
Hard to say what price is right. These little rascals have a lot of collectability and if a seller knows that he'll keep the price high. From sellers that don't know what they have, you might find a bargain. I certainly did as I got a super deal on mine. I think a more reasonable price range is between $500 and $900 depending on condition and completeness. Bonco

Looks like the seller has re-listed at a lower price of $1300. I think the $1300 price is very fair given the vintage, the included motor drive, uni-balance, duetron and unihex. I did not think he was far off with his initial asking price.

JWW Loved the view into the closet stacked sky high with vintage scope boxes...
Also I don't disagree with rfic1 the asking price at $1300 while high might not be that far off the mark depending on condition. Like I said these scopes are collectable and sometimes fetch very high prices. Cheers, Bonco
