This country has too much junk lying around that's for sure! And it's getting worse by the year.

Here is a closeup from a photo I took of a male carpenter bee staking out his turf and waiting for the females to emerge. I took this one just before the shutter capacitor on my X-370 decided to die on me.

Message deleted by author - My apologies, I was unaware of the info in the "Image Posting Guidelines" that restricted in-line image size.

Nice photos - but tell me...how did you get a photo bigger than 800x800 on here? It's become my sole aim in life!

EDIT: My apologies, I just found the "Image Posting Guidelines" thread in this forum that mentions the unusual restrictions on in-line image sizes. I have removed the pictures. Sorry about that, gang.

(NOTE: For the record, I have a dial-up account myself, and have no issue with large in-line images. But the forum rules are the forum rules, and I have no desire to break them.)

LOL, Good one!

Unfortunately, in-line linking to that pic turned out to be just as illegal in the eyes of CN as something the real Bugsy would have done, so I removed the post. I don't wish to cause any trouble.

The deer shots were taken at Midlothian Meadows (Pulaski Rd, just north of 159th st.) That location is kind of the "Deer Country Safari" of the southern preserves, in that while you can find deer everywhere in the preserves, in this one there seems to be a treaty in place between humans and the deer where they co-mingle pretty well at close range and the deer don't spook as easily as in most of the other preserves. That's how I was able to get such sharp closeups; I was using only a Nikkor 55-200mm lens, and I don't think I even had that at full-bore for that mama doe pic.

EDIT: Since you mentioned the cemeteries, I'll tell ya that I went out and bagged photos of Muddy Waters' and Willie Dixon's headstones on Sunday (what better way to celebrate Easter than to go looking at gravesites, right? These were, unfortunately, still full.)

Muddy's site was cool as there were not only a bouquet of fresh flowers laid there, but also a fresh, unopened can of Budweiser (both had to be less than a day old), along with a smattering of (of all things) guitar picks. I don't know if those picks were for Muddy, or whether people leave them there long enough to absorb some of Muddy's mojo before taking them back, but it was cool to see. Since picture quality doesn't really matter much when documenting gravestones, perhaps I'll shrink that down and put it up here.

OK, here's Muddy's grave. This is not a staged shot; everything you see was there and in-place before I got there. I just took the pic.

Interesting that his wife is buried right next to him, and the engraving on that stone says "Wife of Muddy Waters" and not "Wife of McKinley Morganfield".

Oh no - now you think I'm a grass. I honestly thought you'd found some cunning way round the size limit.

If you get fined by the mods, let me know.

Nah, no worries. It was my mistake. I had read the BBS's FAQ and Terms of Service, but had missed the forum-specific posting guidelines where the pixel-size limit was mentioned.
