      #2044645 - 12/11/07 08:04 PM

Been too long since i did html etc lol...I can get the pic on there but can't make it linkable to his site...

Another noob question....regarding APO refractors...do they have similar alignment problems such as Dobs etc have with collimation?

In the following string remove the @ symbol after the first "url", and the @ symbol after the first "image", then copy and paste to your sig during edit mode. This will give you a clear sky clock of Cape Cod imaging station.

Someone should write up the difinitive "CSC in your Sig" post and sticky it. This questions pops up every few weeks.

As for the "problem" with collimation- Well first Reflectors need to be collimated as a matter of procedure- not problem (sorry- don't mean to sound harsh- it just makes it sound like there is a design flaw in the newt that makes it in some way inferior). In that aspect no a refractor does not require collimation. OH BTW after you get your CSS in your sig. it will cause cloudiness for the next 10 days (LMAO)

Actually....there *is* a post in the "Best of Beginner's" thread that leads to a thread in Off Topic about how to. Must've *just* missed it. No worries, most people don't read the stickies anyway, so the same questions still come up over and over.

Look at my sig I just spent $1500 at Orion so even with the new scope curse....looks like i get a break tonight..perhaps its the hole Santa's coming down through...gives my 4.5" Newtonian a last shot...it deserves it...for a cheapo scope it gave me all this, this month:

1} Looking for mars, but saw the Genesis -1 satellite cross my path IN my scope FOV when i had all the knobs loosened...so I got to watch it across the E-S track at 60x

2} Not a bad first attempt at AP on the moon

3} First good view of Andromeda

I'm giving it to my sister for Xmas so mabey I can drag her here
