The Cat Looked Up at the Moon new
      #2049968 - 12/13/07 11:54 PM Attachment (65 downloads)

So this may be a stretch for solar system imaging, but when I saw this tonight I had to grab a picture. I was in our sunroom and saw our cat standing at the door looking out. He usually looks out but never stands up. I figured he saw something and was just being weird.

Finally, I looked out and saw that he was looking at a cat on top of the gazebo. From the angle I was at, there was a perfect silhouette of the cat on the gazebo with the waxing crescent moon perfectly framed between the tree branches. I ran and grabbed my camera.

I may not get to see the Geminids tonight, but at least I got this.

And a second with a slightly longer exposure. 5 seconds versus 3.2 in the other one I think.

After this the cat stood up and did a perfect cat stretch, but the camera was still processing this one.

Thanks for the nice comments. I was glad I had the chance to get it before the cat left. I wish I had a better camera for dark pictures like that, but I think it still came out pretty well. And through a glass window too!
