Hi all! I'm posting this here 'cause you all are my peop's. My wife and daughter got together for Christmas and had a star named for me through the Registry. (Now, I know it's not scientific or anything, but it's still pretty cool.) I went into Cartes du Ciel and found the star, with only a minor variation on the location listed on the Registry's chart. It's in my birth-sign, constellation Scorpius. From the chart, I can demise that it's probably a 17+ mag star (not viewable through my li'l 4-incher). Anyway, there it is. Update your star-charts! Clear skies, pleasant company! -Andy

By the way:
star designation: SD18 4272
Oh, and it's named after our 4 pets: Bob (dog), Gromit (cat), Smigel (cat), and Spot (cat). Family tree available on request (except for the dog).

Andy,
If I thought I could reach that deep. I would find it and report back to you on what I see. I think it is too faint from where I am. You'll need a astrophotographer.
