Well Folks, I have no idea what the usual thing is in this forum - do people start their own threads for daily sketches or is there usually only one?? For now I'm just starting a new thread. I took the PST out again around the same time this late morning/early afternoon. I've been on "break" from work, and there is this huge tree that I have to wait for the Sun to clear. Here's a picture of my "set up". This was the most "dangerous" thing I've done because I inadvertantly did look at the sun with the camera as I was trying to get a good shot of my setup . Okay, lesson learned-no more pictures of my set-up as it is setup while viewing... I just hope that a quick glance won't hurt me.

Here is my sketch.. The mini sketchs on the right were my attempt at depicting the bright region on the limb, and as it so happened, it changed while I was viewing - I also had gone from a single to double stack on the PST.

If I'm good maybe I'll try writing legibly. I have a bad habit of writing in some sort of code that only I can read, and it only seems to be legible to me for a few days to a few weeks.
By the way, I think I'm now preferring my UO HDs to the nagler, I might get the 18mm UO HD. I used it once and it was nice. I've got the 12 and 9 and both give excellent views.

I'm going to get lunch, and maybe if I'm lucky when I get home later I'll get to view again. The Sun basically will disappear over my apartment building so I will have to take everything out the garage and set up somewhere else. It's nice to have a portable observatory like this, however with a chair too it isn't quite as portable - and I need the chair to sketch!

Great observation and sketch, Dee, Your sketch looks almost exactly like mine that I did today. I just got done cleaning the house for company tonight, so will hopefully get around to scanning in the sketch and writing my report yet this afternoon.

The tripod is a Manfrotto 3001BN and the head is a Manfrotto 3126. I just basically asked OPT what they suggested and that is what I ended up getting. I also have the white sunshield that you can stick the front end of the PST through but was too lazy to put it on, and now I'm paying for it!! The last two observing sessions were longer than normal because I sketched and I was a bit warm and I really could have used the shade!!
