I am looking for information on the Q7LW Control box. How much can you rotate the control box when on a German EQ mount,or is the Q7 Astro the only way to go when German Mounted??

Just talk to Questar the LW Q 7 control box does not rotate like the 3.5 Q's due to weight of control box. You can still mount the Q7 classic LW on a German EQ and use the Axial port with a 2 inch diaganol with a swivel coupling for rotation. so the bottom line is but the classic with control box use External 2 inch Diag. when needed have best of both. Also Questar will build you an external Barlow to work and can provide an external finder that does not require any drilling of holes!! Questar rules!!

Kelly. You might want to talk to Marty at Company 7. He gave me some really good advice when I bought my 7 astro. In particular, he recommended going without the control box and a straight 2" out the back as it gives a less vignetted light path. If you go on the Company 7 website, the picture you see of the non-LW Astro version are the one they had Questar build for me.
In combination with an Astro-Physics 2" diagonal, it was dynamite both visually and for astrophotography.

Your right Suk. I just did not want to give up the control box. Everything is a trade off. This is going to be my retirement scope. Mr. Kelly Taylor

That's a GREAT retirement scope. I no longer have mine, but every time I used it, it was a terrific pleasure, not just to look through, but just to touch. Good to see that America still makes incredibly fine *stuff*.
