Earlier this year, I downloaded a free viewing guide from a link that was posted on the forums. The book was a viewing guide that had an interesting bit of history about a viewable object for each day of the year. Unfortunately, my computer finally bit the dust, and I can't remember the name of the guide.
Does anyone know what I am talking about and have the link?
Thanks,

In 2007, it could be found here. I was looking at it just the other day, to see if I could update what used to be a stickied post for 2008, but since it appeared that the site hadn't been updated for months, we unpinned the post and let it fade. I didn't realize that the daily posts had moved over to Universe Today.
Now, in following some links on Universe Today, I found this page, which mentions a "book" that the daily skywatching guide will be published in, but it doesn't mention if a free downloadable will be available as in years past or if it's only available in hardcopy form or how to get it or anything else that I can find.

Thanks for the info. With your help, I was able to track the book down at this website: http://www.tower.com/details/details.cfm?wapi=100156526
Amazon has a link but it is out of stock.
While I had enjoyed the free downloadable version, I was planning on purchasing the 2008 hard copy, so this helps.
Thanks again!

~Steph~,
I loved this ebook and followed it daily, even when I was not planning on going outside with binos/scope but now it looks as if it will not be available any longer in pdf. Looks like it be a hard copy book from reading this post. Am I reading that correctly? This will be missed! And looks like another book to buy!

Yup, that's essentially the same page/link I posted above (just a different location on their site of the same post), and that's the only mention I could find of it on the site. Does make it sound like hard copy only, but even they don't seem to have any link to it anywhere; there's only the link and mentions that Jim dug up (and I noticed the Tower site Jim linked to also says "2 to 4 weeks for delivery" so it seems like the book isn't even in stock anywhere...and correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't 2008 start soon, like, say, TOMORROW? ).
It's too bad, I know folks have to make money but it was nice to have the free PDF, and to also have the option to get the posts by email/RSS each day, as I used to do.

I'd be willing to bet the book mentioned is a generalized month-by-month sky guide, not something specific to this year.

Looks like Tammy Plotner's book in question is available as, "The Night Sky Companion: A Yearly Guide to Sky-Watching 2008 - 2009 (Patrick Moore's Practical Astronomy Series) (Paperback)" through Amazon....in stock. I just ordered a copy. Hope it does well for her.

Come back with something in the way of a review, once you've had a chance to read it.
