Help w/ Celestron GPS acc for 8" SGT Adv Series
      #242805 - 11/05/04 11:32 PM

I just received the Celestron GPS module for this scope...other than how to mount it to the tripod leg..there are no instructions with it or the telescope on how to use it.
All it says is go to: Menu, Utilities, GPS, on.....
Then what?
What about alignments? What is this home goto and home set in that Utility menu...
I am totally lost can anyone help me?

Once the GPS module is turned on, it should provide the HC with your exact location and time automatically after the GPS establishes contact with the satellites. You then would perform the normal 3 star align which should be quite accurate now. The GPS module is simply filling in the blanks you would normaly have to dial in during setup.

Home goto is like a default orientation for the telescope, a park position for the ota for when you are away from the telescope etc.

Thanks Chris, I was confused about GPS I guess....I had bought it in hopes of not having to do a 3 star alignment because the 3 stars are usually blocked by trees or light pollution.
I will try it per your steps.
Thanks again.
