I have an older ETX-60, and the plastic threaded fastener that holds the ra/az axis together is broken. I was wondering if I can order this part through Meade, or is there another supplier of parts for Meade telescopes? (or perhaps someone making a better designed replacement)
Thanks for any info you can provide. --Mike

Anyone? Has anyone ever needed parts for one of these things, or do you just send it back to Meade? Are they not worth repairing?
It's kind of frustrating, I just built a mounting plate for a surveyors tripod for this thing, and I was going to give it to my Dad, when I realized that the AZ lock wasn't working. When I pulled the bottom plate off, the lock plate just unscrewed by hand, along with the top of the cheap plastic bolt thing. The rest was broken off in the center.
I'm thinking of just waiting until Meade has a sale on a refurbished ETX-70 to replace it. I guess I could always use the OTA from the 60 for a finder on my C6R.

Mike...
I'm not sure about the ETX-60 parts... an quick call to Meade might help (if they have parts for it still available)...
Another site that might be of assistance would be Weasner's Mighty ETX Site
