I managed to get some sky Friday night and had a fairly productive night shooting brighter stuff. It appears that several of us had the same idea, as a few of my targets were also posted this weekend by other!
Here are a couple I haven't seen posted recently. Still seeing how short an exposure I can get away with so they aren't as deep as the pros get.
Here's the Rosette; ED80 and Canon 300D, 5 X 300 seconds at ISO 400.

Here's one that Ed has already beat me to it with a nicer one but I'll stick it in anyway: M46 & M47

Is your horsehead blue channel stretched? I took shots of the same object, same cam and scope and mine looked more or less redish, not blue
Just curious if the color is processed effect, or normal cam exposure

I think most images of that area are redder than this one. By the time I get rid of most of the streetlight effects it's hard to get a good color balance!
I'll see if I can tune it up a little better later.

They all have dead on tracking and focus I think you could increase the individual exposure times on the Rosette and Leo's Triplet. The Horsehead is tuff when you are also getting Antlik in the image. That star has ruined many of my images.

Thanks, Charles!
The combination of the LX200 mount and the ED80 has really made things easier for me. I'm shooting 300 seconds unguided with this mount.
I want to play with autoguiding for longer exposures but the skyglow wipes me out beyond 300 seconds anyway so until I get some kind of filter that'll have to wait.

Great images John I like the way that you've framed them. The rotated view of B33 sure does let the extended nebulosity fade out nicely, good orientation choice on that one. It sure is nice to get a clear sky now and then in our region these days.

Thanks, Ed!
Yes, it's been frustrating to finally have everything set up to where I can get pictures I like and then have the weather we've had.
I was surprised to get anything out of B33 at all; a 5 minute exposure from here is nearly white. I couldn't see anything of it until stacking & stretching.
I want to try it again with filters before it gets away.
I especially like your Triplet shot; you drug more detail out of the M galaxies than I was able to.

My B33 shots were almost oversaturated when I tried it. Had to spend about 8 hours trying to tweak out some details and try out different stacking, filtering techniques. I have a few lights around but I can avoid the direct effects of all but one of them. Skyglow is a bit of a problem in the direction I have a view to. I saw the light across the lot in the observatory pic on your website. I just received an IDAS LPS filter from Hutech which may be a good choice for your location. check it out: http://www.sciencecenter.net/hutech/idas/lps.htm

Hi, Ed.
I hope that one deserves a little more time and effort; we'll see if I can improve it later. In order to get the dark nebula to show I had to clip everything pretty hard, which ruined the Flame. I look forward to hearing your thoights on that filter; I think it might be something I need here.

Those are some great results, especially the Leo triplet and M47/M46. The others are good too, but are much tougher objects that stretch the limits of the 300D. You're doing great pushing the envelope!

Beautiful shots everyone! I was thinking about setting up the lx200 tonight for the first time in 2 months due to weather and other obligations to try my hand at the orion area with the rebel. I think i will just find out that im going to have to get the F6.3 reducer though....it never ends

John,
Bravo Lol. But in all seriousness, Very nice images for the setup. I can only hope my LX will track as well as yours when I get it back with the new electronics and drives. I never asked but have you done any training on your drives? Just curious.
