CN FORUMS ARCHIVE Telescope Reviews: Coming to Florida in February ?

If you're coming to Florida next month, the Northeast Florida Astronomical Society (NEFAS) http://www.nefas.org is having two short events:

Super Bowl Stargaze: 2/4 and 2/5, 6:30 PM - 2:00 AM

Public Viewing Session at Hanna Park (see below). Plenty of scopes if you don't bring yours (I usually bring three and binocs).

Urban Star Party: 2/11-13

About the location: Katherine Abby Hanna Park is at Mayport, and the viewing location (Parking Lot 8) is right at the beach. views from NNE through SSE are dark and stable.

About the tariff: There is no charge by NEFAS for any of the sessions; however, Hanna Park charges $1 per person admission.

About lodging: If you're coming Super Bowl weekend, fergit it if you don't have rooms reserved. Last word was that the nearest rooms are 40-50 miles from AllTel Stadium. Hanna Park does have RV spaces:
