2" leg upgrade on a CSE mount...anyone?
      #3285537 - 08/21/09 08:51 AM

I was hoping to retrofit my C8SE mount with the larger diameter 2" stainless steel legs instead of the 1-1/2" inch ones it comes with. I feel it would add greatly to the stability of this mount. Has anyone done this and which legs from what mount would be interchangeable. I had at one time a Skyview pro mount and from what I remember those loegs would seem to do the trick. Anyway, I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who has upgraded their c8se mount in this way. Thanks bc

can you post a photo of the tripod (espeically the hub)?

need to make sure it is the same (or similar) one I dealt with before

if so I have a solution but it will cost some $$$$

Very easy solution.

All you need is to buy a set of 2" steel leg for either Meades' LXD75 or Antares EQ5 (tripod alone if I am not mistaken it's around $200 new. Used of course is a lot cheaper)

Take the leg out and install it to your C8's hub. The width is 99% the same. Depending on your case you may need *very* little shimming or filing. But in the three transplants I have done require none.
