M42-43 from last night
      #331538 - 02/03/05 11:46 AM Attachment (115 downloads)

8" Skyview Pro Newt and 300d

I combined 3 exposures (90, 40, 20 seconds) to bring out the faint detail in the nebula and the core.

Good start. You managed to prevent a blown out core and capture the trapezium as well.

Great shot Bill, you have caught the trapezium well without burning out the core, and you've pretty much nailed the focus.

Thanks for all the comments.

A quick question. I want to go after some globular clusters (M13, etc...) in the next few weeks. Any tips? am using my unmod 300d into a Scopetronix MaxView with the barlow lens in place so I can focus it in my 8" reflector on a SkyView Pro mount. Should I try multiple short exposures at high ISO or a long exposure at a lower ISO. My concern is tracking errors.

I did these photos with my 6" dob and Epson 850z a few years ago so I want to at least improve upon these.

Thanks Charles. Any tips before tackling M13 again with my new setup?
