November 2008 DSLR Challenge Winner - Tomvictor's image of IC 1848 (the Soul Nebula)!



Hi all, here is my Soul.
For this picture I used a Ha-filter in some exposures to enhance contrast and pick up more of the nebula.

Optics and mount: Takahashi FSQ106ED f/3.6 on Takahashi Em-200
Camera: Baader Canon 350D. Guided with MiniBorg 60ED and DSI pro II.
Exposures: 27 x 300 sec. + 11 x 600 sec. with Ha-filter. Both in ISO800
Software: DSLR focus, Maxim DL (Guiding), Photoshop CS2.
Date: 05.11 and 16.11.2008

Scope = TEC200ED f/9 refractor
Mount = Astro-Physics = AP1200 GTO
Camera = EOS 40D

Captured in mediocre conditions but this object passes about 82 degrees overhead at this latitude.

Captured with Nebulosity-2. Split into R,G,B channels and drizzle combined per color at x2 res in Nebulosity, noise reduced individually per color in Photoshop/Noise Ninja, combined and finished in Photoshop.
