By the way, the internals shown there don't look a bit like a repackaged ToUCam as the conventional wisdom has been stating. It might use the same CCD and driver chips, but it's a completely different circuit layout.
In fact it looks amazingly simple compared to modifying a ToUCam or a QuickCam Pro, since there are no pins to lift or traces to cut, everything is already connected with wires that can simply be cut. Wow.

Sounds promising. Those instructions seem to be aimed at those with some basic electronics knowledge. I would need a real 'Idiot's Guide' for the procedure before I would attempt it.
I was lost at the preparation of the 4066 cmos switch.

I agree that this mod looks a lot more fumble-friendly than the other mods I'd seen. Good show!

This certainly looks like the easiest version of the LE mod I've seen. Unless I'm missing something?

I've decided that the pictures leave some stuff out; it wasn't until I started digging/researching more that I realized that you still have to pick up a 4066 IC chip as part of the parts list. An annotated shot with all the needed parts and also where all the blue wires go would be nice.
It's probably reconstructable from that page and a little extra research, but I'm not taking a screwdriver to a camera until I'm sure...

The 4066 info comes from the link to Martin Burri's QuckCam Pro 3000 modification site. This is what I followed for upgrading my QuickCam Pro 4000 and it was the easiest part of the whole thing. I soldered the resistors up to a DIP socket and then just plugged in the 4066. The 4066, socket and resistors can be found at Fry's Electronics for a couple bucks.
I don't think I'd have any qualms about modding a NexImage with these instructions.
