I have tried vedio mode but I have not been able to get even one useable frame. The shutter is too slow for my method of tracking (or lack there of).
Here is another version of the shot with a comparison to the Discovery docking camera.

@vi100:
How long did you keep the shutter open to capture those shots?

The longest exposure time with the Canon PowerShot A75 is 15 seconds. I push the camera at ISO 400 and take a lot of photos to reduce the noise.

Hello,
This is an average image of 54 shots of 15 seconds with my Canon PS A75 at 400 ISO. Processed with PixInsight.

Hi everybody,
I've been following this thread for quite a while now, as I also have a Powershot, an A85 at that. I thought I might share some of my preliminary attempts at M11, M13, and M27. (I just got my very first scope and am learning the ropes, as it were.)
The photos were made using a 6" Intes-Micro MN66 mounted on a computerized CG-5 ASGT. The exposures were, of course, 15s at 400 ISO. Stacked in Registax and touched up in PS CS2 and PixInsight.

Best, /G/

Hello, I was wondering if anyone may be able to help me. I would like to do some astrophotograpy and I have a Celestron Starhopper 6 dobsonian and a Canon A620 powershot digital camera. My questions are; what is the best way to set this up? Do I need to use T-adapters and such or can I just find a way to hold the camera over the eyepiece? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

You can use an adapter that fits to the CANON. I did not check but I assume the A620 allows an adapter to be attached to the camera for lenses. Then with that attached to a afocal adapter you can attached it direct the eyepiece. Set the camera to iso 400 and 15 sec exposure. Focus is critical. Focus the scope through the eyepiece. Attach camera. In manual mode set focus to infinity. Take a photo of the stars or object in question. Then blow it up digitally and see if the stars are really in focus. Adjust focus as neccesary and take test shots until focus is reached. Then take several images of object and stack them.

I recently aquired an 8" LX200 classic sct. I've been using a Canon A510 to take pics of the moon and planets with my various telescopes (all undriven alt-az). Given that 15 secs max exposure is limited for a lot of dsos I'm nonetheless impressed with what I see can be done. Now I wonder what the advantage of multiple exposures stacked are since there is no additional light(?) that can be aquired for the image, can there? Also, I'm mostly proficient in Photoshop. If I stacked in photoshop, would I have the layers (with each exposure) in "screen" blending for the same results as a stacking program?
Again, I'm not sure how additional information is obtained for a dso (planets I understand) by taking several identical exposures. Wouldn't I get the same results by stacking/layering the same identical image?
Thanks, Malcolm

Anyone use a PowerShot ELPH series they use? I have the S400. Any tips you can share?
According to the ScopeTronix wizard, I would need the: Digi-T System #57 for $109.95. However, there are so many other adapters, not just for the camera but for the eyepieces.
I have a 24mmPan and a Meade 6.7mm UWA. I'm not sure those eyecups can be removed. I don't think I want to experiment to see. Does anyone have those. Which adapters are best for those?
Thanks -Jeff

Hello Jeff,
If you're unsure about specific eyepieces, send them an e-mail. I did just that before buying the adaptor for my A75 and they answered fairly quickly.

He said something like "very good ,nice picture, bye" in a language which resembles my native Romanian .Thank you both.I always use ISO 400 and max aperture on faint fuzzyes because I can fight the noise but not the 15 seconds limit. Stacked in Registax , noise removal in NEAT and cropping in paint.
