I just got a Hitachi 6 GB Microdrive. I'll let you know how it performs. Supposedly it has a 9 MB/sec transfer rate.

I have a "clueless" question - Does the microdrive go inside the camera, or do you download the files to it via cable?

Hi Ed,
The microdrive is the same size as a compactflash card. It goes directly into the camera. Yes, it really is that small.
Here's a photo and specs.

I just stuck it in my Nikon D70. It takes 4 seconds to write a RAW file + JPG to the drive. Nice.
Total number of RAW+JPG storage: 523 RAW Only: 567 Basic JPG (just for fun): 22,600.
It takes about 50 seconds to format the drive in the D70.

WOW! That's almost unbelieveable for its size. Thanks!
