Has anyone any experience in collimating Celestron 25x100 SkyMaster binos? I had ordered and received a pair and when I looked through them and saw 2 very beautiful moons, one beside the other, I was dissappointed to say the least. I returned them to Celestron for collimation, and when I got them back, they were better, but, the view now showed 2 Jupiters and 10 moons. I am quite sure that Celestron had done their job, but, I suppose the shipping of them back to North Dakota jostled them enough to misalign them again. I would like to know how to re-collimate them so I don't have to subject them to rough handling everytime I send them in. Thank you for any help. Gary

Go read the thread on Collimation in the "Best Of" link at the top of this forum. All the detail expalnation and links to photos is there. the celestron 25x100 has prism adjustment screws just like you will see in the photos.

One problem you might have with the Celestrons is the glued down vinyl cover as opposed to the rubber cover on many others. It's easy to push the rubber aside. You might have to cut a slit in the edge of the vinyl and pull it up a little.

Gary, a conditional alignment procedure is pretty straight forward from the "best of" section. Jeweler's flathead screwdriver is probably all you'll need. I have not specifically adjusted the skymaster 25x100, but I have spent a good deal of time playing with my 20x80 obies. Give it a shot...it is most probably your problem.
