One year old LX200 the same? new
      #496680 - 06/30/05 02:01 AM

I see a local LX200 10" for sale that's one year old. Is this exactly the same as the LX200's for sale new now? I know they are advertised with the level north and SMT technology now but can I assume if this is one year old then it's the same?

The SMT software was optional until late 2003. Any scope sold after that should have SMT and LPI included. If it doesn't, it's still the same telescope but the price should reflect the accessories that aren't there.

I believe Meade started to migrate to brass gear in September 2004, but some reports indicate that some scopes only have one of the two transfer gear in metal.

My scope was made around that period, but I did not open the cover to check,,, if it ain't broken I won't mess with it!!!!
