First attempt at M27
      #502461 - 07/04/05 03:03 PM

Last night Erika and I packed up our equipment and headed to her Mother and Step-Father's house. They live out of the town and the skies are quite a bit darker than we get at our house. I had a bit of an imaging marathon which lasted until dawn. I am going to be processing the data for several days I suspect. Here is my first run on M27. Certainly not a great image, but at least you can tell what it is .

Equipment used: 10in LX200 in Alt/Az. F6.3 Focal Reducer. 17x15sec exposures taken with the standard DSI. Levels adjusted automatically in Photoshop.

As always, coments and advice are always welcome.

I have more data of M27 which I hope to combine with this image once I get it processed.

Thanks for the encouragement guys .
I ran a noise filter with NeatImage and the result is not too bad:

I am a little leary of using noise filters as I guess it takes away the pureness of the image for the sake of looking nice..
Having said that, I am not a scientist so maybe that does not matter too much.

I like it Paul, your stars are quite sharp and you've captured some nice details there. It is a tough call as to when noise filtering is appropriate. Looks like you have a nice balance of detail and noise redux.

Nice one Paul, you continue to push the limits of the DSI. Kepp posting these excellent photos.
