CN Policy on User / Moderator Interaction
As CN grows, the interaction between users and moderators also expands. With that in mind, we would like to make our users cogent of the following.
Our moderators come from diverse walks of life, with many differences – yet they all share a common desire to make CN a better place - a place that is astronomy oriented and family friendly. Many put in long hours to achieve this end. A moderator’s job is difficult. A balancing act between rigidity and leniency, the job is all too frequently thankless and frustrating. And yet they are ultimately here for you - the user.
We would like you to know that we’ve developed a policy to guide user / moderator interaction. While it’s not necessary to post the full text of the moderator guidelines here, we would like to inform our users that no modification of posts generally will not happen without an attempt PM to the user. Please note, that the PM may happen before or after moderation, but there will be a PM associated with it.
We recognize that differences of opinion happen. If a user disagrees with the decision a moderator has reached, they are welcome to appeal to another moderator (of that forum) or one of the admins.
We would ask that you do this via e-mail or PM, and not in the open forums. If two separate mods / admins are in agreement on what has been done, we also request that you gracefully accept the moderator’s decision.
Additionally, you are always welcome to contact any of the admins via PM with your specific concerns.

Update: 7/14/2005 - It's been our policy to PM users when their posts need moderation. However, due to the recent surge in users and some difficulties we've been experiencing in certain forums, we will not necessarily PM users who's email address is a non-verifiable account (netscape, yahoo, etc...). Please be advised we suspect this will affect a minimum portion of the population. If your message has been moderated and you do not recieve a pm, please feel free to contact a moderator for clarification as you see the need.
Again, if you have any questions regarding this or any other policy, please feel free to contact any of the admins.
