There's been recent obs of these two carbon stars on this forum - their spectrum profile is unique! Of possible interest are my lo-res amateur spectra of these [and many more vars!] via my LX200 + Rainbow Optics grating at

Excellant work. You mentioned you have a grating from "Rainbow Optics", I have the "visual" version of the "Rainbow Optics" grating. Great little unit.

Rich - I've had the 'Rainbow' unit for many years - it came with the cylindrical lens for broadening a spectrum visually but I only use the grating alone on scope before a camera as it goes so much fainter/detailed eg mag 12 or fainter in 5m-10m CCD exp;-)
