Yeah relative to a commercially made 20 or 22" scopes it is a grab-and-go. Many people think it is a 18" scope due to it's compact size. You can see it at my website, faintfuzzies.com
I store the mirror seperately from the mirror box so I can carry the mirror box by myself very easily. My cell does not have any clips, just a sling...so when I set it up, I just place the mirror in there and center it and ready to roll. I used only 1/2 baltic birch throughout, so it is pretty light.
It takes me about 5-10 minutes to schlep my scope, table, chair, eyepieces, etc to my SUV ad 10 minutes max to setup and collimated.

W*rk? Why are you people using those four letter words? I'm surprised the CN Naughty Gnomes don't catch and sterilize your language.
Yes, the countdown is starting, but we'll all be in our different modes of transportation while it progresses. See you all there. With our battery of medium-large aperture scopes, there'll be some good viewing at the upper field (probably near the NE corner) if the weather cooperates. You CNers are welcome to come up and mooch some views. Alvin's 30 will stand out, so you'll be able to find us pretty easily.

It is a nasty four-letter word, isn't it? And unfortunately my boss (another nasty four-letter word... ) expects me to get some things done today and tomorrow before I get out of here. The noive!
So let me take this opportunity while I can before everyone starts getting scattered to wish you all safe and pleasant travels -- I look forward to meeting you all in the coming days!

As for work I have made some real lash-ups today as my mind ain't on the job at hand either!
Very good, Faith. You have the "ain't" down pat. Before you leave the LSS (Lone Star State) we'll have you comfortable with "ya'll" and "purty" as in "Ya'll gonna be seein' some right purty sights next week." For advanced classes we can work on "Boy Howdy" plus both the East Texas and West Texas pronunciations of the name Doris.
You have me getting antsy too. We don't get to leave until next Tuesday. That's when our kids will move in to watch the house and feed the cats. Martha and I will make the the Malt Shop trip on Wednesday. Boy howdy, I can't wait.
Ya'll be right safe now, y'hear.

Dear Faith and Steph,
I regret to inform you that I will not be attending this year's TSP.
But Steph, I hope to see you this summer anyway! And Faith, next time we visit my inlaw's in Somerset, maybe we could meet up and have a look through your new dob once it's finished!

Just remember I have the goods on you with regards to Carin. You wouldn't want me telling her some of the remarks you've made in the dill thread, would you? If I recall, one of them had to do with boiling eggs?

Steph,
Good school marm catch of the wandering apostrophe. I stand abashed.
And another lesson in the delicate subtleties of Texas regionalism. Northern Texans follow the more direct-speaking path of those from far above the Red River line. Those reared, as I was, in the genteel South Texas regions would sidle up on such an egregious “fox paw” more indirectly as in “Lordy, ain’t it grand the multitudinous ways some people do try to use the language. Your little old wanderin’ apostrophe is just about the cutest diversion I think I ever did see.” That’s the way my seventh grade English teacher, the famous Miz Greer, would have put it. Now out west of the Arlington to Del Rio line, the correction would have taken the form of “Jake, that there is just the sorriest excuse for a 'postrophe I ever seen. Reminds me of the time…” Long story follows.
Just a few more days. I can’t wait to meet all y’all.
(PS. I typed this in MS Word. The program quit three times in one paragraph. I don’t think the grammar and spell check could stand it.)

I guess my Fort Worth HEB suburb upbringing was too straight-forward and wiped out my Lubbock/West Texas birth roots completely. My y'all and my drawl are all that's left. And my fixin' to.
My 'pologies fer bein' so dern rude. :tip of the hat graemlin:

Any good reason to bring along a bicycle? Not sure how big this ranch is but it looks spread out a bit and they put us RV's over near the main entrance. Just thought I might bring it if I could use it.
Dang the next 2 days are going to be long.

Steph,
I didn’t take your post as rude at all. You were right. Reading over mine, I was trying to find the part that would seem like I was offended. I guess maybe the “school marm” part, but you couldn’t know that I am and come from a long line of school folk. It was a complement. My school teacher wife was aghast at my mess up.
Thank you for all of us for putting this together. I was quite anxious about being in that big crowd of serious astronomers as a first-timer. The Malt Shop was a stroke of genius.
Have a great trip on Sunday. I envy you the extra nights.
PS. Last Saturday some old pros from TSP reminded me to bring the big steel spikes to tie down the scopes. West Texas winds and all. But they said the hardware store in town always stocks up on a few boxes of the spikes just before TSP. So they will be available. They also echoed the above posts about the quality of the food. I think the statement was that at most star parties you lose weight, but that he gained five pounds at the last TSP. Great desserts, he said.

Jim, we're crossin' words here. I was joshin' that I was bein' rude 'cause I didn't use a time-honored Texas genteel method of correctin' your y'all. It's all good!
And beggin' your pardon, kind sir, but I can't take credit on the Malt Shop idea -- that one is Darrell's. I'm a first-timer, too, so if you see a blond with wings on her back looking lost, that'll be me!
One more day of work and I'm freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!

Dean, A mountain bicycle with a good set of tires might be a nice thing to have on the ranch. 2 things to remember - 1) there are a lot of pedestrians around the ranch at TSP, and 2) It is very rocky and can be rough on tires. You will probably see a lot of bikers on the roads as well. The Davis Mountains are a favorite area for biking.

If I remember someone said on here (I think) that there's a biking event at the ranch immediately prior to TSP.
