Canberra is the "bush capital" of Australia - one bad side effect is that a lot of people use wood burning heaters, and since it's the middle of winter down here they have fires stoked up at night.

So the seeing is bad until about 2am when most of the wood heaters have run out of fuel, and then it's ok for a couple of hours.

The local government is trying to get people to stop burning wood, since it's a big cause of pollution in canberra.

oops... that will also means poor transparency, like in HK, air pollution from the mainland really kills transparency as well.. X(

Oldfield;

In Phoenix I call that excellent seeing!

Glad to hear you were able to fix the mount. What was wrong with it?

Oh my gosh, that's one for the books. Not my first guess. Did you find some nice synthetic to replace it (that stuff stays good longer than you want to keep the equipment).

Hoping for some good rain or clear skies. Would be happy with either right now.
