Bino mount new
      #772059 - 01/11/06 08:16 AM

I own a pair of Nikon Action 12x50 binos that are extremely difficult to keep steady. Does anyone know of a bino mount that could be purchased so these could be mounted to a tripod? Thanks.

Bill, you might find that this could be answered better in either the binocular forum or the mount forum. I have little experience with binocular mounts but you might give Orion a try--I have used their parallelogram and it was pretty stable with a similarly sized binocular.

Thanks Larry, wonder if a mod could move it over there? I'll wait and see and if not post it over there.

Bill -

A 10x50 binocular is not considered to be a "big" or "giant" binocular, so a standard camera tripod should do the trick. As for the tripod adapter, a number of options are available. I prefer what's called a Pentax adapter :

I purchased mine used on eBay for $15.00. It's a little pricier compared to other tripod adapters, but it's more solid and steady than the plastic models commonly available.

Good luck...

I use a cheap Bushnell adapter for my 10 X 50s and it works fine with a light camera tripod.
