Want a really basic book on organic gardening?
Want a laugh?
Give Peas a Chance
I was selling this book to people back in my book store days, and was stunned to find that, after more than 15 years, it's hanging in there, still in print. This guy gets the science right, has a handle on the basic techniques, and has a sense of humor any gardener can appreciate. I was so pleased to see it's still available that I just had to point it out!

Hmm, think of compost as a pet animal! It almost reminds me of an astronomy book I was reading not long ago called The Stars of Heaven, by Pickover
Thanks for pointing this out to us, Tom. It looks like a good read and reference book!

Not that I know of... (I used to have a t-shirt with that on it.)
I was working in a community college bookstore when I found this book. I showed it to the instructor of a class called "Plants and Society" who had me order some copies and put the title on her list of optional reading. We sold out every semester that the class was offered.
