Decided to give M42 a rest and try something more challenging on my learning curve. Pointed to Alnitak and took 44 lights at 30sec/1600ISO thru the Tak. After I got the memory card inside I discovered that they were in jpeg. Bummer. Even though the Menu on the 20Da said Raw Large. I converted them to FITS and aligned and processed the first 24 of them. Still don't have the processing down but am encouraged by the results for such short exposures. Tomorrow I'll process align and stack all 44 to see if it makes a difference. One nice surprise was the lack of apparent field rotation. (I'm still in Alt-Az) The STV was tracking beautifully. Anyway I see my first horsey, albeit not nearly as well as the other posts on this forum! I didn't read the menu properly in the dark when I was fooling with the camera.
