Great 'scope. It is really good for lunar and planetary in particular. I'm completely satisfied with the way it performs its intended purpose.
I have recently added a Ranger, and will one day get a big dob, but these are for different tasks.

Look at that. A flash photo and only one little spot of glare on the meniscus. Pretty nice coatings.

Meet Zumbo. Zumbo has a waist of 14" and stands about 7 feet tall without extending his legs (I really think he's put on some weight over the last few years). Zumbo is on a modified CI700 mount with full goto added and modified CI700 tripod with 24" leg extensions added. He likes viewing DSOs and has a special interest in C8s with nice legs.

wow 14"? How much does the OTA weigh? ============================================================ The OTA is one of 4 major parts of this rig, OTA, counter weights, tripod and mount. Of all the parts the OTA is the least heavy weighing 39 pounds. Please don't challenge me on this because Celestron says it weighs more but I weighed it myself and the weight is 39 pounds. While it's only 39 pounds, it is the most difficult part to carry and set up.

Nice telescope Altinakis! One of my all time favorite telescopes is a 10" LX2oo classic, which I still own. Btw, one of the most fantastic eyepieces you will ever use on your telescope is a TV Panoptic 22mm. When Al Nagler built that ocular, he had your 8 inch LX200 in mind.

I've posted a pic of this 'scope before, but I've made some changes and show it as set up for deep sky imaging (other than the dew hood not being fitted and the 'scope not being outside!).
I've replaced the 9 x 60mm finder with an Orion EZ-finder II for the time being to reduce strain on the mount when imaging, having misplaced the original 6 x 30mm finder after 17 years and two house moves!
I've also re-instated the JMI Motofocus that I'd bought some years ago but had removed after the power cable broke.
Now need to wait for some clear conditions...

Nice historical remark Al Canarelli!
I didn't know that Al Nagler thought this telescope as the ideal for Panoptic eyepiece.
Maybe sometime in the future I will obtain one!

Here's the latest pic of my LX200R. William Optics Megrez 110ED piggyback, all ADM (gotta love ADM) piggyback and counterweight stuff equipment, all the typical gadgets, and the newest project, done yesterday; a Trinity 7" LCD monitor. So when I have people over, they can look at the monitor instead of looking through the eyepiece if they want. Works pretty good with the Meade electronic eyepiece I have. Now I have to find a color camera for it, black and white just doesn't cut it. I also found out that the wheels I put on the wheely bar roll on the grass pretty good, so now I can go back to my spot next to the driveway, instead of being on the driveway. A lot softer on the feet in the grass.
