The Best of Section CAN be very helpful if you know where to look. Can be overwhelming for a beginner to navigate.

proably the single most important suggestion that can be given to navigate the best of thread is to
take one minute and read the instructions in the very first Best Of post.
If you try to look at the best of thread in flat mode you aren't seeing it as it was intended to be seen, as index cards.
when the word on the button reads FLAT, you are in threaded mode. It reads Flat, meaning press here for Flat, but the thread is in THREADED mode. This is what you want.

Agreed, Ed.
The 'threaded' mode gives the appearance of a 'Table of Contents'.
In addition, as the first 'chapters' seen are the most recent, the 'Info for Beginners' appropriately shows up near the beginning.
Worked out nicely.

I'm having some difficulty identifying my "class" status here. I "matriculated" a year ago. Does that make me a sophomore? I am a moderator on the forum. Does that make me a senior? My knowledge of optics could be described as gradually-being-enlightened freshman.

Hey Ed (and others)
Thanks for the notice. Makes sense now.
Just a question, is there a way to have that specific forum always, default to the threaded format. But the other forums are user selectable.
I only ask, because I like the flat format for other forums but it seems the better solution in the 'Best of' forum.
Thanks James

Setting forum read defaults is in My Home and will affect all foums. It cannot be set for individual forums.
