This questions may seem a little elementary, but then again so are my efforts in this area.
My questions is about piggy backed long exposures. If I piggy back my Canon 300D on my ETX-125 and guide throught the ETX either manually or with software, will I be effected by field rotation?
Do I need a wedge?
Will limiting exposures to less than 1 min work. Then I would stack 4 or 5 60sec images.
Any help or thought would be appreciated.

Yes you will get field rotation unless your Polar mounted.
Yes you can take images with the 300D riding the ETX-125 without a wedge, as long as your focal length is low and not for too long.
Trial and error is the best way. Start with 50mm lens, and 1 minute exposure and up the focal length to 100mm etc.
Stacking can be done with software even if the image has rotated.

Just to add... software like ImagesPlus will also rotate an image. So expose as long as you can without getting rotaion, then take as many individual shots as you can. Then stack and rotate the individual subs and you should end up with a nice picture.
Good luck.

As tim says.. if you expose short exposures, so that EACH individual frame shows NO rotation, then stack the whole lot and rotate each frame separately, you should be OK.
To understand what causes field rotation.. read THIS thread.

Gamma & Tim,
Thanks very much for the tips!
I will definitely try these the next time out.
Tim, I may have to bother you in the future for processing tips in Image Plus. I have never used it before, and I have no experience with calibrating, aligning, images. I have only stacked webcam AVI's in Registax.
Thanks again.
