No photos yet. I am just about to head over to the guys shop (Robin A., local member of the machinists over-achievers club) to start cutting.

While there yesterday, I saw the results of his experiment in archery, a wood and aluminum target shooting crossbow. He came up with an amazing design (but fairly complex) system for mounting the counterweights on the ends of carbon fiber shafts of very small diameter that I could adapt for a truss-tube telescope. I had the idea for a while, but the cost of 1/2" plus wrapped tubes gave me pause. His design uses carbon fiber shafts from arrows (3 per arm) joined with aluminum spacers and held in place with O-rings, dampening out vibrations.

I told him I might have to steal his idea.

John

Because its a piece of Alcoa Alloy 7075.
Stronger then "normal" alu.and good to machine buth you need to cool it or it will stick to the tool and then the surface become verry bad.At least whit the tools i have in the shop.
