No, because you skipped #6 when you numbered the one this past weekend as #7 in your thread title because this thread which originally talked about the first weekend in June was listed as #6.
So really this past weekend was #6 not #7.
Good going Mike...I thought you were good with numbers.

I'm glad you pointed that out Steph. I realized that long ago. I just didn't say anything because it was Mikes first *gig* in Goldendale.
If that is what he wanted to call it then who am I?

Yeah, I just let it ride, too, figgered someone else would figger it out eventually. Guess not. Or that it didn't matter if #'s 6 and 7 were swapped by a month. But now that the next one sounds like it won't be until Aug or Sept...might as well get the numbers straight. Dang, that means the thread titles should be edited.

Okay, I've renumbered the first post in this thread, and the last two (mine). Hopefully any further ones will show MSHSP7 but I'll edit those that quote posts still showing MSHSP6...

This is a perfect example of, the necessity, and..may I add, the respectful recognition men must pay to our kinder/gentler woman friends. Their perception to detail, and accuracy has no equal.....
Sure... there are among our numbers, some who have the ingenuity to fasion a fine accurate astronomical instrument from scraps, and cast off material. But fail to remind him he needs to come in and eat, or wash, or that he even has a family that needs his attention...he will be completely uncivilized, unsocial, in need of a bath, and mouth wash.
I openly recognize...your skill, and attentiveness, to all that is anything other than what we are currently focused on. Sweeew... thanks for keeping us on track.

Yeah, the world would come to an end if the star parties weren't numbered correctly...
Thanks, Rob.

Thanks, Rob.
Just think of the emotional impact(men don't have emotions), if we found out we came to a party that was numbered a few past the one we had thought we were attending. So much had been missed.....people we missed...doodads we failed to get, cuz they were sold out at the last party..
Oh the tragedy. Steph, I can't tell you how much grief has been avoided by the simple ability to, and your skill to, be able to count.
One good practical reason I don't number my parties at GOMOC.
I remember them by the date they happen to fall on. Or the severest storm on record that happened during them.

I'm staying out of this one...
Aug 2nd sounds good to me...and mark my words...the original date in June will be the clearest, calmest, most transparent night ever...we'll be getting CSC allerts all week for it.

Good question. Guys?
How about moving it to August 2nd and teaming up with the Vancouver Sidewalk Astronomers event at Coldwater Ridge?
Thats a great idea.
I'll second the motion and throw it out for a vote.
For the sake of full disclosure let me remind you all that Aug. 2nd is the weekend of Table Mountain. The outreach potential of an event at MSH that weekend makes it worthy of foregoing Table (which I was thinking about anyway) for MSH. I think Trout Lake is that same weekend, too.
On the plus side, making the most of the Aug. 2nd date could encourage the Forest Service to promote astronomy at MSH. That's the clincher for me.

I'm going to enjoy just that at Rob's.

Yes, MSH would make a guy miss Table, but that might be just the incentive to try something different, such as Mt. Bachelor (Aug. 6 - 10) or OSP (Aug. 28 -31). My personal preference is that I prefer both over Table because of the superior darkosity of the skies. Gawd & weather willing, I'm in for MSH.

I enjoyed Table..but the climb with my trailor in tow nearly killed my RV. Plus the dust.
I keep reminding myself that I created GOMOC for many reasons, and one of those reasons was to be *local*. Given the price of gas these days, and the distance to all of these parties I tend to bunker down and enjoy what I have.
The local associations have enough members to(in theory) keep my busy.
Plus..being the host for many of these parties, I am just not available to attend the larger..far away parties. And since we hold them on or near the other party dates....well..it's obvious.
I look forward to enjoying the company of my CN pals at a GOMOC party this summer.

Yeah, I agree...I haven't been to excited to go to Table since the good ole days when the skies were darker...or were they?

No..it doesn't mean that. Until the actual date is nailed down, and the location. I am holding out, cuz I might be having a party on that date myself.
I enjoy the parties at MSH very much...but as I noted, I have my resposibilities here at GOMOC.
Party going has become more complex for me. As you can imagine.

Table has darker skies then I do...but taking into acount the drive, the wear and tear on equipement, the use of long exposure photography(to capture the DSO's), the amenities, and the fact it's in my back yard... makes the decision to party at GOMOC all the easier.

Okay guys, we really need to hold down the chatter in this thread to MSHSP 7 only. Let's set the date and you can talk about specific info related to that party here, but move the chatter about other parties and events over to the PNW thread. I mean it this time, the MSHSP6/Goldendale thread got out of hand...
