Last night the seeing was very steady here, but not very transparent, so i just pulled out my WO ZS66 (SD doublet fl 388). Some easy doubles split so cleanly that i said-why not try the double double. Lyra was high in the sky around 10 pm, and darn if i didn't bag it. Cleanly. With a 7mm ortho with an Orion shorty barlow, yielding, if the barlow is exactly 2x, probably not, but soemthing like 111x. I am very pleased with the WOZS. Could not believe it, looked again 15 minutes later to be sure!! Tom in humid CA (what IS with our weather)

Congratulations Tom! That humid weather can be a blessing when it yields steady skies. I have had some of my best double viewing on nights when you could cut the air with a knife. :^)

The components of Epsilon Lyrae are close to the limit of your scope's capablities. The fact you split all of them shows the quality of your Williams Optics refractor. I'm sure you could use magnifications in excess of 150X and still get sharp views, those scopes have very good optics, especially the apo and semi-apo models.

I am very happy with my ZS66 (semi- apo, whatever that is!), i also have a ZS80 (not APO)and am going to sell the latter as i prefer the 66! (I also have a 80mm f11 OLD Vixen achro, which i also prefer to the ZS80, so some real overlap, plus a 6 inch dob i use to check the colors. I must say the ZS66 is very, very good at color rendition) I love doubles, learned early to record my sightings and that has proved very valuable. 20 years of recording means i can pick up in 6 months later and not have to start all over again!!!. My passion is to get a D&G long focal length refractor, just have to convince the wife! Tom in humid CA

The other night, I split the double double with my 66 ED. At 192x (4.8mm Nagler and 2x barlow ) both pairs were quite cleanly split. They spilt at 96x too, but not as easily.
