The following links will take you to archived threads containing resources of special significance. The Refractor forum is one of the most popular forums and has a number of threads too useful to allow to fade away and buried under a mountain of other threads. I've "gathered" a few of the older (or less active) resource rich threads here, with links for quick reference to those threads. As other sticky threads mellow with age, they too will be added to this "Focus" post.

Ron,
Thanks for the short refractor comparison table. Just what I needed. I'm looking to replace an old Orion 80 with an up to date model for the March eclipse.
Enjoy the dark,
Herman

I Found you just in time!
I love building telescopes but until tonight, they were all reflectors.
Today I ordered a A. Jaegers catalog# 13B 1159.from Surplus Shed. 110mm by 1069 F/L. Should make a great planetary scope, me thinks.
These are the non-cemented crown and flint to make the ". . legendary A. Jaegers Optics objective!" SS says that these can be cemented, air spaced or taped together. Edge thickness is 21mm (when together).
I barely understand what they are saying but am committed to learning. Your post makes it easier.
Thanks!

It's not often at all when you have to collimate a refractor, but when you need to, you need to. Thanks!
