Unlikely to be of great interest to the out and out binocular astronomer , but relevant to topic , I noticed that the latest Lidl's " special offers" brochure includes three varieties of 3 x 25 Opera glasses , priced £4.99 each.
Very decorative looking items , all three .
One thing these MAY come in useful for be is boosting magnification of , for example , a 25x binocular , to assist star - testing , although higher a quality monocular
is normally recommended .
But at £4.99 , one of those little red and brass effect numbers would surely enhance many of the photographic collections we've seen posted from time to time :-)
