WO ZenithStar 80 Short Tube & WO Binoviewer Kit

The WO ZenithStar 80mm Short Tube is the way to go for binoviewing. I would not be delighted with the WO binoviewer (or the many brands that are basically the same unit) if I were forced to use the OC nosepiece to bring the binoviewer to focus. The 80mm short tube is a perfect match for the WO binoviewer and the supplied 20mm 60 degree FOV EPs. This setup provides beautiful, wide field views. On the other hand, views with the Orion 80ED and the OC nosepiece, which is required to bring the binoviewer to focus, are disappointing. I will say, however, that this setup affords the most impressive views of the moon that I have seen. With the 20mm EPs, the moon just fits in the FOV, and you feel like you are floating above the lunar surface and the detail is fabulous. For those considering the bargain binoviewer kits available, I am reluctant to recommend the purchase unless you have a scope that will focus without use of the OC adapter.
